The eighth annual ARTcetera was held on Friday, September 29thin the Harbor Side Ballroom of the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center. Diane Bodin-Link and Cameron Fryer returned for another successful year as co-chairs of ARTcetera, continuing to increase the scope of this community favorite.
Sold out a month in advance, the event kicked off with over 330 people mingling with friends, sipping chilled Bellinis and nibbling bacon wrapped scallops while perusing a fabulous selection of original jewelry and regional art as well as a wide variety of merchandise and services that had been donated to the silent and super silent auctions.
The scrumptious dinner, created by chef Angie Barth, featured lobster-tail broiled with candied ginger and mango butter, chef-carved tenderloin of beef with béarnaise sauce, and chef-carved leg of lamb perfumed with rosemary and garlic. A light and tangy raspberry glace tart and variety of fine cordials finished the meal and ushered in the live auction with the drawing for the Little Red Schoolhouse Raffle.
New to ARTcetera, the raffle offered the entire community a chance to win one of the fantastic custom-built playhouses of PLAYcetera. Community volunteers spent six months promoting the raffle and selling tickets to raise funds and awareness for the hospice house project. Two other playhouses were auctioned off as signature items during the live auction.

Auctioneer Kurt Johnson returned to guide the audience through a dynamic auction of 35 items, including several one-of-a-kind dining experiences and vacation opportunities including a cruise on Lake Superior, as well as a fine selection of original art and luxury merchandise.
After expenses, ARTcetera 2006 raised over $214,000 for the Miller-Dwan Foundation's campaign to build the Solvay Hospice House. For more information on the project, click here.
